Octopath Traveler Will Be Getting a Mobile Prequel

Square Enix had two big announcements for Octopath Traveler this week. It sold 1.5 million copies, and we're getting a prequel on mobile devices. The company made the announcement on social media and followed it up with a trailer today showing off a little bit of what the game will entail.

This version of the game look to play exactly like the Nintendo Switch version, but with a few new additions to the battle mechanics and, most importantly, the ability to play with eight fighters in combat instead of the regular four. Pre-registration is currently happening for the game in Japan, but the game has yet to be given a proper name beyond just being called a prequel to Octopath Traveler. By the look of the video below, it feels like we could see this come out in the summer. Possibly say… by the time E3 rolls around?
