Subway Surfers Launches Craft-A-Character For 12th Anniversary

Mobile developer and publisher SYBO Games has launched a new event for Subway Surfers in honor of its 12th Anniversary, as you now have the ability to Craft-A-Character. This isn't the first time the company has done this, as they have allowed fans to make their own character and submit them to possibly be added to the game. Now it's back for another anniversary event, which you can take part in starting today and rolling on into January 29. We have the finer details for you below.
Subway Surfers 12th Anniversary
In 2022, SYBO launched a similar contest for fans to create their own playable character in celebration of Subway Surfers' 10th anniversary. SYBO chose one lucky winner, Fernando, to be transformed into an all-new in-game Super Runner character – marking the first time a character based entirely around a real-life fan has been added to the game. SYBO has previously added four other fan-made characters to the game, including Tankbot, Koral, Bob the Blob, and Spraybot.
Now through January 29, fans can submit entries for Subway Surfers' next iconic character. The theme for the contest is "Gaming Geeks" – requiring characters to be inspired by video games, gaming culture, and history – and SYBO will be running additional competitions throughout the year with fresh themes for fans. To enter, players ages 18 and up must post an image of the character they create to Instagram, tag @SubwaySurfers, and use #CraftACharacter. The winning character will launch in-game in May 2024 in celebration of Subway Surfers' 12th anniversary since its release in 2012.
"The opportunity for 150 million monthly players to have access to a character you created is pretty extraordinary, and our community loves these contests," said Philip Hickey, Chief Marketing Officer of SYBO. "We had to bring back a fan-favorite event for Subway Surfers' 12th birthday and we've got a special update in the works for this character to explore. We can't wait to see what the fans create."
