Todd Howard Going To The AIAS Hall Of Fame
Last night, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences inducted one of the most well-known and respected game designers into their Hall of Fame. Todd Howard, the leading mind behind Bethesda Game Studios, is the 22nd inductee, joining the ranks of Shigeru Miyamoto, Will Wright, Peter Molyneux, and Hideo Kojima to name a few.
It comes as no surprise as he helped produce dozens of titles and cemented the legacy of game series like Elder Scrolls and Fallout. The man has practically done more for open-world gaming than anyone else, reflected in his being awarded Lifetime Achievement Award at GDC in 2016, and it's hard to argue not giving him the honor. GameInformaer held an extensive interview with Howard about the award and what he's currently working on at Bethesda, a very humble insight into a man who is constantly creating. One of the highlights from that interview is the following:
"I guess I'm most proud that the team has stayed together. Someone asked me once, how do you define success, and it took me awhile and I thought, a group of people doing something and when it's over they say, "That was great, let's do it again." And we've been able to do that time and time again where we say, "Hey that was good. Oh, we have a new idea. Let's do it again. We think we can do better." I'm proud that we've continued to do that with the same enthusiasm – all of us. "
What are your thoughts on Todd Howard's induction?
