Ubisoft Call Vivendi Increasing Their Shares In The Company 'Ill-advised'

The Vivendi and Ubisoft story has been going on for a while, and it's unclear exactly where it is going. The current state is that Vivendi have slowly been buying shares over Ubisoft to increase control over the publisher, and Ubisoft aren't best pleased about it.

While Vivendi have have maintained that they have no plans to take over Ubisoft, they sure do have a weird way of showing it. Gamespot report that Vivendi have bought more shares in the developer today, increasing their control from 24.059 to 25.15 percent.

Again Vivendi stated they don't want to take control of Ubisoft saying:

Vivendi is hoping to build a fruitful cooperation with Ubisoft

Ubisoft were a little less enthusiastic, saying:

This is another indication that Vivendi is continuing its ill-advised and value-destructive approach of attempting to take creeping control of companies like Ubisoft.

It's hard to know what any of this means for consumers though. Ubisoft are hardly a small, indie company, and it's not clear what a Vivendi would do if they did control the company. We will have to contiue to see how this plays out.
