If Sony Agreed, Xbox One And PlayStation 4 Players Could Be Playing Rocket League Together In 'Hours'
A few months ago, talk of cross platform Rocket League appeared, meaning that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players could play together. It very much seemed like Xbox were trying to instigate the movement and Psyonix were certainly interested.
Well, it seems that we are just one green light away from the feat, which could happen almost immediately. Vice President of the developer Jeremy Dunham told IGN that everything is ready to go, but Sony appear to be holding out. He said:
We're literally at the point where all we need is the go-ahead on the Sony side and we can, in less than a business day, turn it on and have it up and working no problem," he said. It'd literally take a few hours to propagate throughout the whole world, so really we're just waiting on the permission to do so.
From Sony's side of things, this does make sense. Right now, with their massive hardware lead, there isn't a whole lot of incentive to pull the trigger on this. However, from a consumer standpoint, it would be really great, and as history has shown, Sony may not be on top forever. I think this future proofs what may come, but at the same time, I'm not expecting Sony to cave just yet.
