Arrow Season 6 Will Match A Villain To Each Member Of Team Arrow

We know that a team of villains is being put together for Arrow Season 6, and that it will include Richard Dragon (Kirk Acevedo), Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl), and the unrevealed character played by Michael Emerson (who I'm betting is Cayden James of Helix). There has also been talk that Black Siren, the meta-human Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) from Earth-2 may also be part of that team. But now we have to wonder: will the Vigilante will be part of them too?

Arrow

EW.com is reporting that the villain team is being set up as a direct counterpoint to Team Arrow. They refer to Anatoly being the opposite of Oliver and Black Siren being the match for Black Canary. They also talked with Stephen Amell about the Star City masked man that fans were sure early on was Adrian Chase:

"I know who he is. I'm not going to tell you who he is, but I will tell you Vigilante is a villain, if you want to call him that, for a member of the team as well."

That throws up a lot of interesting thoughts. The first has to do with Anatoly being the match for Oliver. I don't see that. Yes, they both spent time on Lian Yu, but Oliver is a highly trained warrior who has worked with Slade Wilson, Shado, Yao Fei, and Talia al Ghul. The Anatoly we've seen so far is a Russian mobster and rather intelligent, but I can't see him being a one-on-one match for the Green Arrow — unless they went and turned him into the KGBeast as he is in the comics. I think Richard Dragon makes more sense as a match.

Now, the Vigilante is a match for someone. Skill-wise, he could be a good match for Wild Dog or Spartan, but he could also be an emotional villain — and then the theory that he's Curtis' ex-husband Paul become really interesting. And Amell doesn't come out and say that he's part of the bad guy team — but then, no one said they would be an actual team. It could be that each member of Team Arrow has someone to deal with on their own this season. I doubt they'll go that direction, but it's possible.
