Batman: Arkham Knight Limited Edition Statue Might Have Given Away Huge Spoiler

So, here is the stuff I can tell you without spoilers first. There is a £79.99 Amazon Exclusive Batman: Arkham Knight version of the game you can pre-order now. It comes with a SteelBook case, some in-game costumes, an art book, a comic book and a statue.

…and that is about all I can tell you without potential spoilers. Seriously, this is end of game stuff, so if you want to go in blind, get the hell out of Dodge.

big-spoilerThe limited edition statue has now been outlined, but perhaps, overly so. In what appears to be a mistake, Amazon posted a picture of the statue on their site, which is basically a big black brooding Batman over Gotham. It looks pretty great.

The blunder, which was pointed out by VideoGamer, comes when you look at the plaque that adorns the statue. If you look closely at the image you will see what it says:

From a Grateful City In Memory of the Gotham Knight

This image has since been taken down from Amazon's listing and now reads "Gotham Knight", adding credibility to the intent.

The description that accompanies the statue, which is still on the site, says:

An imposing Batman memorial statue commemorating Gotham's protector, the Dark Knight.

So, are we going full The Dark Knight Rises? It certainly looks to be going that way.

However, something doesn't quite sit right with me here. I can't help but feel this may have been an intentional leak to start everyone talking about Batman's fate in the game. After all, anyone getting the statue on release day would see the original plaque upon opening the box. There's no way Rocksteady would spoil the end like that just as you sit to play it. My hunch is that we might be being sold some misdirection here.

Or maybe not. Maybe the original image is from an in game asset that someone forgot to scrub. Who knows?

If marketing starts coming out hinting towards dead Batman though, I'd look to the first option.
