Daniel Bryan Announces New Top 10 Listicle Segment for SmackDown Live
As part of WWE's efforts to turn its weekly pro wrestling shows into the equivalent of clickbait websites, WWE is launching a new Top 10 list segment on tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown Live. SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan announced the news on Twitter.
"On SmackDown Live, we're always exploring new and different ways to make the show more interesting for our fans and more engaging for our superstars," Bryan said in the video, squinting to read the script. "Which is why I'm proud to announce for the first time ever the official SmackDown Top 10 list."
"This week, the Superstars of SmackDown Live will vote on who they think is most deserving of opportunities," he revealed. "Criteria includes most talented, locker room leadership, and who has the most athletic skill on the roster."
"Now there's a couple of ground rules for this process. The most important rule is simple. Neither Shane McMahon or myself will have a vote. This isn't about us. This is about the SmackDown locker room having their voices heard," Bryan continued before revealing what's sure to be the most controversial rule. "The other rule is probably obvious, but just so we're clear: Superstars can't vote for themselves."
"This is going to be so cool!" said Bryan, who admittedly has a different definition of "cool" than most people. "I've always wanted to see a Top 10 list from our talent. It's gonna be a huge asset for Shane and I when we're determining matches and constructing the show."
"I cannot wait to get started," he revealed, barely able to control himself. "Yes! Yes! Yes!"
This is sure to be well received by SmackDown Live Superstars like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, so be sure to click on… er, tune in to SmackDown Live tonight to find out how it works out.
