Escape Room 2 has been pushed back yet again. The horror sequel to the surprise hit from 2019 will now look to have the same success in January, as it will open December 30th, 2020 and into the new year. That first film ended up grossing $155 million worldwide on a tiny $9 million budget, so a sequel was inevitable. Returning from the first film are Logan Miller and Taylor Russell. Escape Room 2 is directed by Adam Robitel. Isabelle Fuhrman, Holland Roden, Indya Moore, Thomas Cocquerel, and Carlito Olivero will also appear in the film.
Escape Room 2 was originally set to open on April 17th, then moved to August 14th. Sony is looking to avoid other bigger genre films those weekends and make sure they get into a space where they can have a better shot of success, kust like they had with the first film. The Escape Room frnchise is just as it sounds- featuring a group of people who end up in an experiment where they have to narrowly escape death in rooms containing puzzles of all sorts. We thought that first film was just ok, but there is for sure room for the concept to grow and become great.
Escape Room 2, starring Logan Miller, Taylor Russell, Isabelle Fuhrman, Holland Roden, Indya Moore, Thomas Cocquerel, and Carlito Olivero now opens on December 30, 2020.
