For One Night Only, The USA Get A Showing Of 'Bill'
It was probably my favourite movie released last year. Bill, a comedy about Shakespeare's missing years tells the story of how he moved from being a member of a lutist boy band called Mortal Coil (he shuffled off, obviously) to becoming the world's greatest playwright, by way of a Catholic plot to kill the Queen.
From the acting and writing troupe who brought Britain the utterly amazing kids shows Horrible Histories and Yonderland, Bill is the closest you'll get to Monty Python's Shakespeare. It was released in the UK last year to much acclaim, including from me and my kids, and now America will get it for one day only.
It's either April 11th or 12th from 7pm. There's some debate. But there is nothing else you should be doing either of those days. BBC Worldwide North America and Fathom Events are releasing it for one day in selected cinemas to coincide with the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death. Theatres are listed here.
Yes, it's probably a little late for the younger kids but let them have a sleep earlier and bring them anyway. It's that kind of film.
Oh, just watch all these trailers and clips. Then clear your schedule. Or, go import the DVD. Either way…
