Fox's 'The Gifted' Adds Garrett Dillahunt As A Potential Mutant Hunter
Garret Dillahunt, formerly of Raising Hope, has been added to Fox's new X-Men related drama The Gifted as a recurring character. Gillahunt will play Dr. Roderick Campbell, a mutant researcher contacted by the Sentinel Services. He's described as professional, intense and intimidating with a morally dubious mission yet to be revealed.
The series, from writer Matt Nix and director Bryan Singer, features Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and Amy Acker (Angel) as a suburban couple that discover their children are mutants and are forced to go on the run and hook up with an underground network of other gifted people who are fighting to survive. Series also stars Sean Teale, Jamie Chung, Coby Bell, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, John Proudstar, Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White.
Dillahunt can currently be seen in The Guest Book on TBS and will join Ron Perlman in the upcoming season of Hand of God on Amazon. He's also in the sixth and final season of The Mindy Project and just finished a film called Widows that also stars Colin Farrell, Jon Bernthal, Viola Davis and Elizabeth Debicki. He appears to be a very popular in the industry right now.
Roderick 'Rory' Campbell exists in the Marvel Comics universe, having worked as an assistant for Moira McTaggert during her time working with Excalibur. He would go on to become the mutant hunting Ahab. Whether he will become Ahab remains to be seen, they may just want to use the name Roderick.
The Gifted premieres Monday, October 2nd on Fox.
