Han Solo Is "Coming Along Great" According To Ron Howard
The big conventions are over and we still know almost nothing about the Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film aside from the fact that Disney and Lucasfilm don't want us to think about how wrong all of this has apparently gone. There are rumors going around that as much as 80% of the movie could be reshot under the direction of new director Ron Howard. There is a good chance we won't know everything that happened behind the scenes to make this movie fall apart in such a spectacular way and until the release date we won't know if it works either. The Hollywood Reporter recently caught up with Howard and asked him how things were coming along.
"[The project is] coming along great. It's a fantastic script, a great cast and I am having a fantastic creative experience with it … (the film) came with great characters, a great script and actors who inhabit those characters. It's a great young cast, incredibly strong — smart, funny people who love their characters and love being part of this. I think we'll be able to do something that is a lot of fun."
It's not surprising that Howard has nothing but good things to say about the production. There have been plenty of disasters where everyone kept saying things were fine until the release date and this is no different. However, Disney and Lucasfilm aren't doing a very good job of making fans feel any better with this silent treatment. They've had three big opportunities (Celebration Orlando, D23, SDCC) to show us something that will get people hyped. Aside from New York Comic Con the convention scene is coming to a close for the year and there hasn't been anything besides bad news to get people hyped.
It's a Star Wars movie, it's going to make money no matter what, but trying to do the movie marketing equivalent of the dog in the room surrounded by fire saying "this is fine" isn't doing the trick.
Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film, directed by Ron Howard, stars Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson, and Thandie Newton. It will be released May 25, 2018.
