In Japan The Xbox One Is Being Outsold By The PlayStation 3 26:1
Xbox has never had a substantial presence in Japan. The rise of mobile gaming as the predominant platform hasn't helped, nor has the country's internal business bias. Sony and Nintendo have whatever share of the shrinking home console market there is.
I didn't realise things were this bad though. As pointed out by 4gamer (via Kotaku), the Xbox One sold an unimaginable 100 consoles June 8 through June 14. By comparison, the PlayStation 4 sold 10,833 units. Hell, the PlayStation 3 sold 26 times more consoles at 2,633. Perhaps most depressing, the Vita TV sold more than five times the Xbox too. That smarts.
I think we can safely say that the Xbox brand in Japan is dead. I would imagine that extends to future efforts in the country too. The console is just way too against the grain of what is happening in far East right now.
