Ryan Murphy's 'The Prom' Shuttters Production Over Coronavirus Concern

Ryan Murphy's new film The Prom has shut down production over Coronavirus concerns. Newcomer Jo Ellen Pellman has joined the cast in the lead role of Emma, who is told she cannot bring her girlfriend to the dance. Four theater stars, played by Meryl Streep, James Cordon, Nicole Kidman, and Andrew Rannells come to her town to help her. The film adaptation is written by Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin from a concept by Jack Viertel. This will debut on Netflix, part of Ryan Murphy's overall deal with the streamer. The film was to do a location shot at a school today and has instead suspended the production altogether. They are hoping to resume in mid-April, but like anything else, it is up in the air at this point. It does sound like the film is alomost done, however.

"No one has the coronavirus, this is just being prudent with everything that is going on around the world," another individual with knowledge of the situation stresses. Already in the process of loading out at Paramount, The Prom was set to be wrapped in the next few days anyway. Today's on-location filming went down as permits were pulled due to the school in question closing its doors altogether due to coronavirus worries that have seen a number of education institutions shutter."
