Sony Gets The Rights To Jon Spaihts Passengers

SONY_logo_newIf you don't know his name already, you can expect to hear the name Jon Spaihts a lot more now. His is the screenwriter for the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, but another script of his was just won in an auction by Sony.

The script is called Passengers and is big science fiction love story set in deep space. It takes place on a ship transporting thousands of people in suspended animation to a new planet. When one of the pods malfunctions it awakens a single passenger 90 years early. He decides he doesn't want to spend his life alone so he wakes up another passenger.

The movie has had a few names attached to it in the past: Keanu Reeves, Rachel McAdams and Reese Witherspoon… but this production is starting from scratch with Sony.

Spaihts other credits include Prometheus and The Mummy reboot.
