Goat: New Horror Sports Movie To Star Marlon Wayans For Monkeypaw

Marlon Wayans is set to star in Monkeypaw sports horror film Goat. The film is set up at Universal and Jordan Peele will produce.

Article Summary

  • Marlon Wayans to lead horror-sports film Goat, produced by Jordan Peele's Monkeypaw.
  • Goat's story teases psychological thrills between a veteran athlete and an up-and-comer.
  • Monkeypaw and Universal’s previous hits include Get Out, Us, and Candyman.
  • Wayans boasts a varied career with recent roles in Air and The Daily Show.

Goat is a new sports-themed horror movie from Monkeypaw, and Deadline says comedian Marlon Wayans will star in it. Justin Tipping will direct the film, with Jordan Peele, Win Rosenfeld, Ian Cooper, and Jamal Watson producing. David Kern and Kate Oh will executive produce. The film is based on a pitch by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie, in which a promising young athlete is invited to train with a retiring star. There's not much to go on there, but there is potential for a cool psychological thriller to be had from that relationship.

Goat Could Mean A Lot Of Things

Goat will be a hot release for Monkeypaw and Universal, who, of course, have partnered together many times. That includes all three of Jordan Peele's films: Us, Nope, and Get Out. Combined, those three films have grossed almost $500 million and become some of the most beloved modern horror films. Other notable horror releases from Monkeypaw include Nia DaCosta's Candyman remake, HBO's Lovecraft Country, and Paramount+'s remake of The Twilight Zone.

Marlon Wayans has been acting and performing stand-up for over 20 years. He has starred in numerous TV shows and films, including Above The Rim, The 6th Man, Requiem For a Dream, the Scary Movie franchise, and In Living Color. He most recently co-starred in Ben Affleck's Air and had a well-regarded guest host stint on The Daily Show. He has a new stand-up special, God Loves Me, coming to Max.

As far as Goat goes, we need more to go on. It is wild to me that Marlon is old enough now to play a retiring player. We will bring it to you as we learn more about this project, like who else will be joining Wayans.
