WWE Rumor: Roman Reigns Could Look Strong As Early As SummerSlam [Potential Spoilers]
Since Brock Lesnar won the WWE title from human poop machine Goldberg earlier this year, conventional wisdom has said that he's just keeping it warm until next year's WrestleMania, when he can lose it to Roman Reigns on the grandest stage of them all, making Roman look extremely strong and helping him to finally win over the historically uncooperative WWE Universe.
But plans may have changed!
Of course, Roman will still look strong, but according to the latest issue of Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Roman could be looking strong sooner than planned.
"The scheduled main event for SummerSlam, and possibly WrestleMania, changed a few weeks ago," Meltzer reported. "The only question is what they did change to. It was confirmed to us that a few weeks ago, probably just before the Roman Reigns interview where he said he wanted a shot at the Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe winner, that plans for SummerSlam on 8/20 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn changed from Lesnar vs. Braun Strowman as the main event to Lesnar vs. Reigns."
If Brock Lesnar is going to make Roman look strong at SummerSlam, that means that Braun Strowman would be highly likely to make Roman look strong at Great Balls of Fire, since he can't go into his match with Lesnar coming off a loss. As for what will happen at WrestleMania if Lesnar's coronation comes early Meltzer suggests that he could face John Cena, which would both result in John Cena being universally cheered by the audience for the first time in a decade, and also in Cena putting Reigns over so that Roman can look stronger than ever before.
However, Meltzer does say that it's possible that plans can change thanks to how well the program between Lesnar and Samoa Joe is being received. Basically, any combination of matches between the people on top of the company right now will be involved in some sort of high profile angle at the upcoming PPVs. Nice job, Dave. Well worth the $10.99 a month.
But we digress. The point is, when it comes to WWE, everything is coming up Roman Reigns, and is likely to be for the foreseeable future. Which isn't so much a spoiler, we suppose, as a confirmation of what you already knew deep down inside.
