On Twitter over the weekend, AEW Vice President and TNT Champion Cody Rhodes confirmed that his weekly Open Challenge for the TNT Championship would be open to anyone, including wrestlers not contracted to AEW. Cody won the Championship in a tournament at AEW Double or Nothing, defeating Lance Archer. The next week on Dynamite, a battle royale determined that Jungle Boy will be the first competitor for the title, with that match taking place on this week's show. After that, the open challenge can begin, with Cody claiming he'll defend the title every week.
