The Dark Multiverse awaits as we finish up our McFarlane Toys Flashback coverage with the DC Multiverse Batman: The Dawnbreaker. Introduced in DC Comics' Dark Nights: Metal event, this dark Batman variant originates from Earth -32 in the Dark Multiverse. In this twisted world, Bruce Wayne still witnesses the murder of his parents in Crime Alley, but after he is immediately chosen by a Green Lantern ring. This was due to the strength of his will and the immense emotional trauma he experienced. Bruce accepts the power, but instead of becoming a beacon of hope, he warps the ring's programming with his grief and anger, unleashing the darkness of the ring.

Bruce's willpower was so intense that he overrode the ring's protocols, removing its safety limits and moral safeguards. This allows him to do what no other Lantern could: kill. As the Dawnbreaker, he begins executing criminals instead of apprehending them, quickly descending into darkness. Embracing the dark, Bruce would use corrupted green energy to manifest nightmarish constructs from his mind, making him a terrifying and unstoppable foe for his world. Dawbreaker was so strange that we wiped out his universes, the Green Lantern Corps, and the Guardians of the Universe. He is then recruited by the Batman Who Laughs, The Dawnbreaker, to join the Dark Knights to conquer Earth-0.

The Dawnbreaker is the youngest of the group, and the darkness of the Green Lantern ring has corrupted his appearance. McFarlane Toys is no stranger to the creepy creations, which is what made the Dark Knights a great early wave to ease collectors into the DC Multiverse toy line. Dawnbreaker did come with a demonic bat energy effect, and two versions were released: a standard and a 2-Pack with Green Lantern. All of the Dark Knights figures were really well done in the DC Multiverse, and this was the wave that really hooked many collectors to their new DC Comics line. It'll be a sad day when the DC Multiverse is no more, so collect your favorite while you can. Collectors can still purchase Batman: The Dawnbreaker on a few sites, including Big Bad Toy Store.
