Alex Hutchinson, Formerly Of Ubisoft, Is Starting His Own Company
Assassin's Creed and Far Cry 4 game director Alex Hutchinson has announced that he is leaving Ubisoft to found a new company called Typhoon Studios. The news came through a series of tweets that I've embedded here for your viewing pleasure, though you can always find them on his twitter account if you really don't believe me.
Hutchinson will be taking Reid Schneider with him to create the new studio, though what exactly they'll be working on is a mystery. Hutchinson's twitter bio sheds some light as it reads, "Creative Director + Co-Founder of Typhoon Studios… Previously Far Cry 4, Assassin's Creed 3, Spore, Sims 2 etc. BAFTA and AIAS winning Designer / Writer" so you know he'll be very involved in the new studio's projects.
Granted, they do have a ton of Ikea furniture to build, so I'm sure they're still ironing out those details. Typhoon Studios already has a website though there isn't much on it other than a contact form. Still, I'm certain Hutchinson, Schneider, and company will have more information for us soon enough. The only clues we have come from Hutchinson's tweets and the tagline for Typhoon Studios which appears to be "incredibly loud and uncomfortably close" which, if nothing else, sounds like they'll be in the action genre. Which you probably could have guessed given Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, and Ubisoft.
All that said, we wish Hutchinson, Shcneider, and their fellows at Typhoon well and look forward to seeing what they come up with. We're sure it'll be a fun time.
