'Mario + Rabbids' And Insomniac's 'Spider-Man' Won Day 3 Of E3

Spider-Man e3

Yesterday's E3 conferences dropped a ton of games on us, but there were a few clear winners on the social media circuit. In our social media analysis of the Ubisoft and Sony conferences, Mario + Rabbids and Insomniac Games' Spider-Man had the most hits for the longest amount of time, making them the clear winners of E3 Day 3.

This breakdown again comes to us from Social Media data analyst, Brandwatch.

First, for Ubisoft:

  • A total of over 85,000 social media posts about the conference between 1 and 2:15 p.m. PT
  • 80% of authors were male, 20% female.

The highlights of Ubisoft's conference on social media came about mostly towards the end, with the most prominent spikes occurring while Beyond Good and Evil 2 was being announced. Here are the most prominent words and phrases driving the mention spikes:

Beyond Good and Evil 2 undoubtedly caused the largest spikes in conversation, although the extended Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle announcement at the beginning of the conference had the most sustained hype.

Sony's conference was just a little bit different, with the social media breakdown being:

  • Over 50,000 social media posts about the conference between 6 and 7:10 p.m. PT
  • 78% of authors were male, 22% female.

The themes behind the biggest spikes tended to incorporate multiple games or messages. For example, at one point people seemed incredibly enthused by "VR fishing" featured in Monster of the Deep, and compared the mouse in the Moss trailer to Stuart Little. However, Spider-Man's long finale trailer earned it multiple spikes.

Despite Insomniac's domination of the Sony conference with an incredibly long ending trailer, Days Gone, Detroit Become Human, and Horizon: Zero Dawn made notable splashes in the conversation.
