Heart. Papers. Border. Is For The Idealist In Us All

Jovian Industries announced their new "optimistic strategy game about travelling, freedom, and changing the world," called Heart. Papers. Border. The game will be showcased at Reboot Develop in Dubrovnik, Croatia, at Creative Coast in Karlshamn, Sweden and at Nordic Game Conference in Malmö, Sweden.

Heart. Papers. Border. allows you to become a freelance adventurer in a rather colorful world that takes it's futuristic cues from the pulp years of sci-fi. In it, your task is to experience everything planet Heart has to offer, regardless of the inherited privileges determined by the country of your birth. Because yes, the country you were born in decides your privilege and that's always something I appreciate when it comes to world-building. It's the sort of detail that can be often overlooked, but definitely adds to the realism of a game.

You travel to learn about the game world, and if you pay a closer attention to what each country has to offer, you can use that wisdom to create a blog that grows in popularity. As the press release reads, "eventually you come to grasp the power of your influence: where you pass, things change for the better, and locals that you have met increasingly demand openness from their governments. You have always been an optimist and dreamed of a completely border free world, but as you travel, you realise that, with your influence, you might actually live to see your dream come true." Which basically just sounds like the dream of social justice warriors come true, so if you're the sort that despises the SJW viewpoint… you might just want to skip this one.

It's not about being the best, the fastest, the smartest, instead it is about how one chooses to live his or her life. The game will feature 26 unique regions to visit, hundreds of tourist landmarks and even more secret destinations to discover. Of course, each location has its own unique history and a traveller never knows what one might encounter.
