Into The Pixel Is E3's Game Art Gallery, And Here Are This Year's Winners

One of my favorite things to do every year at E3 is to drop by the Into The Pixel art gallery that showcases a ton of game concept art, level design boards, and promotional images. Each of the selected pieces of game artwork are chosen by the Entertainment Softwar Association (ESA) and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) to honor video game artists who continue to push the art form forward. They've been exhibiting selected artwork at E3 ever since 2004, and this year's Into the Pixel art collection will again be auctioned off on eBay during the week of E3. Proceeds from the auction raise funds for the ESA and AIAS to support future game makers.

But even without knowing all that, stopping by Into The Pixel has been my yearly break from the eccentric choas that is E3. The gallery is tucked into a corner, often with live music, and is just sort of casually propped up at the show. There isn't a whole lot of fanfare to it, but that's its charm.

This year's Into the Pixel gallery includes 14 key pieces selected from a variety of game genres. The winners are listed below and you can check out the selected artwork in the gallery above. But you can get more information about the gallery and auctions on the Into The Pixel webpage here.
