Tabletops To Watch: 20 Days Left To Participate In Darwin's Dice Kickstarter
I'm always on the lookout for new tabletop games to play, often ones that are fast-paced and easy to start playing. Don't get me wrong, I love a hefty instruction booklet from time to time, but most days it's nice to play something straight forward. I was initially drawn to this new Kickstarter by the artwork. It reminded me of a children's book I used to read when I was a kid. I was happy to discover that Darwin's Dice, had a lot to offer. Simply put, it's a fast-paced trump card game that utilizes dice into the gameplay. 2-4 people can play, and you just have to adjust the amount of cards/diced used depending on the number of people.
Here's a more in depth description of the game:
"You'll need both a tactical approach as well as a fair amount of luck. Two to four players meet in this game for a struggle of sheer survival. Only the player who's best prepared and whose cards match the conditions can obtain the opponents' cards and collect points.
But beware of the scorpion, who will battle even the strongest animals. And don't get bitten by the snake, or you'll lose all your points! But with a little luck you will soar above your opponents thanks to the owl."
There are some really cool sounding special cards as well:
"Besides the regular cards (bear, lion and fox) exist the following special cards:
The snakes, red cards, can become a threat to any player. If a red card wins, the player with the second best card loses all previously collected cards of this round.
The scorpions, brown cards are the only cards who can beat the trump or apex predator.
The owls, grey cards, are the strongest cards after the trump, therefore there are only a few in the game. But they reward you with a lot of points."
You have 20 days left to get in on the action. They have a lot of cool options depending on how much money you want to spend, but the cheapest is $21.00. Head on over to their website for a trailer and more. (Note: the trailer isn't in English, but you get the vibe.)
