Dauntless Has a New Opening Cinematic in Time for the Open Beta
Phoenix Labs today unveiled the opening cinematic video for their free-to-play co-op action RPG, Dauntless, ahead of its official Open Beta launch this week.
The opening cinematic will launch in-game alongside the Open Beta on Thursday, May 24th and will introduce players to their story and the world of the Shattered Isles. After creating their own unique Slayer, players set out to complete their training by slaying a Behemoth in the untamed frontier. Previously, the game opened with a video statement from the development team introducing the game and the general point of the playtesting experience. So, this is the first time players will get a chance to have an intro cinematic in-game.
Dauntless is a fresh take on the online co-op action RPG genre with a whole lot of monster hunting. Players take on the mantle of Slayers, brave warriors who fight ferocious beasts known as Behemoths threatening the survival of pretty much all of humanity. To overcome the odds, Slayers bring their hard-earned spoils to the city of Ramsgate between hunts to craft, enhance, and customize their arsenal to take on the next behemoth. After the main campaign, even more menacing challenges await players in Dauntless's Evergame experiencem, which is finally ready to be tested during the Open Beta after a quick run through the Closed Beta test.
Players interested in joining the Dauntless Open Beta can register for free beginning on May 24th.
You can check out the new opening cinematic below, or take a gander at our last play through of the game during PAX East 2018. That demo report includes some capture of yours truly attempting to take on Quillshot. It was a pretty solid fight, albeit a bit dodgy.
