Halo 5 Makes $400 Million In First Week

Halo5_KeyArt_Horiz_FinalI was a little worried that Halo was dropping off in the public innocuousness as Halo 5, in my experience, had received a more muted release compared to previous years. (Although, I suspect this was a different experience in the US than it was in the UK.)

It seems those fears were unfounded though as the game has gone on to make $400 million in its first week, which is very good going. Halo 4 'only' got around $300 million in its first week, so it does show that the franchise is still growing pretty fast.

Xbox also revealed a whole slew of random stats to go along with the announcement too. Here are a few:

Fans have logged more than 21 million hours of total gameplay, including 12 million hours in campaign mode alone. The widely praised multiplayer modes have also led to nine million total hours played with nearly seven million multiplayer matches played across Arena and the all-new Warzone mode.  In addition, Halo fans are taking to the new Requisition System in a big way, with over 45 million REQ Packs acquired, totaling more than 568 million REQ Cards

I went up to bat for the game's story the other day, which is has received a lot of flack since launch. I really do think this game is something great, so I'm happy to see its continued success.
