The Witcher 3's Expansions Could Be As Big As The Witcher 2

The-Witcher-3-01The Witcher 3 is a huge game. I have barely put a dent into it myself and I'm well into the double digits for hours played. People have put in hundreds of hours into this game since it launched and still not seen everything. It is pretty daunting really.

Well, when the game's DLC comes out, it is only going to get more so. Speaking to Game Reactor, The Witcher 3's game director Konrad Tomaszkiewic explained that if you bring the two together, both expansions could be as long as the The Witcher 2. (For reference, that was really long.)

The first expansion will be around 10 hours and the second expansion will be around 20 hours… and I think it's possible that they will be bigger, because it's always like this (that when we plan some time or hours, it's twice or something like this), but I'm not promising anything right now.

And even now, if you sum up this 10 to 20 hours and you compare it to The Witcher 2, it's almost the size of The Witcher 2. And it will be cool, it will be new stories, it will be very emotional stories and I think that people will be happy.

There is a logical belief most hold that the more you put into a game, the more the quality of detail is going to suffer. In theory that makes sense, but the Witcher 3 is one of the biggest AAA game in years and it looks gorgeous, has immense detail and great storytelling. I don't know how CD Projekt RED keep the quality up, but lets hope it carries over to these expansions.
