Avatar 2 is going back into production in the next few days. The sequel to the second-biggest film of all-time has been in production for what seems like an eternity, along with at least two more sequels to follow. Director James Cameron has done a good job keeping details about what to expect from our return to Pandora, but producer Jon Landau is out there spilling the beans a tad about what the story could entail. In a new chat with RNZ, he lets us know that the story will focus on the children of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) along with a couple of other nuggets.
Avatar Franchise Could Take Over The World Again
"This is the story of the Sully family and what one does to keep their family together. Jake and Neytiri have a family in this movie, they are forced to leave their home, they go out and explore the different regions of Pandora, including spending quite a bit of time on the water, around the water, in the water. I think, why do people turn to entertainment today, more so than ever? I think it's to escape, to escape the world we're in, to escape the other pressures they have in their lives."
Honestly, before I read those quotes, it was hard for me to remember what happened in the first film, or even what the main characters' names were. I have a feeling I am not the only one who feels that way, as time hasn't exactly been kind to the film. That is not to say that there are not fans of the franchise, Avatar has every chance to come out and succeed on a global level like nothing else. Will it become the phenomenon it was previously? That is the billion-dollar question.
