IF is releasing on on May 17th, and should be a big part of today's Paramount CinemaCon presentation. The film is everywhere at the event, and the studio really believes they have a hit on their hands here. The final trailer was released this morning, and if you haven't been sold by now, it is not going to happen.
IF Could Be The Surprise Hit Of The Summer
From writer and director John Krasinski, IF is about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone's imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower — as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids. IF stars Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, and the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell alongside many more as the wonderfully unique characters that reflect the incredible power of a child's imagination.
This is one May where a movie like this could sneak up out of nowhere and surprise people at the box office. It is hard to get a feel for where the public is on this one, as they really did not start pumping up the marketing until really late for something that I am sure they would love to see turn into an IP for their folder. IF also has a lot of runway as a family film at the box office, as there is not much to go against it until the middle of June. Paramount is set up nicely here, all the film has to do now is be good.
IF releases in theaters on May 17th. Keep it locked here all week long for everything CinemaCon.
