Gotham Gets Full Season Order And Sets Live +7 Ratings Record

gotham4Last night's four episode of Gotham did a lot to move things forward, including showing Oswald Cobblepot (Robin Lord Taylor) making a lot of moves… and the cannoli reference felt like a nod to the Godfather films. It was probably my favorite episode so far as the characters are really starting to stand out and the dynamic between Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) is becoming fun.

Other Gotham related news includes Fox giving the series a full season order, making it a full 22 episodes. This is a quote from Fox's CEO's Dana Walden and Gary Newman as part of the announcement:

Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon have created an incredibly rich world, with characters that draw you in and a cast that brings to life these heroes and villains in a way we've never seen before. We are so excited to see where Bruno, Danny and the entire Gotham team take this story over the course of this season, and so thankful to all the fans who have embraced it this fall.

And the reason for the full season order may be found in a report that Gotham has set a Live + 7 ratings record. The premiere got a 2.7 ratings boost, beating the previous record of 2.4 that Marvel's Agents of SHIELD got last year. The boost took the series from a 3.3 to a 6.0 in the rating demo of 18 to 49 and took the number of viewers from 8.3 million to 14.1 million.

Last season both Agents of SHIELD and Arrow regularly received impressive Live +7 boosts. I am looking forward to the Live +7 numbers for The Flash premiere.
