Reviewing April's Loot Crate: Fantasy – It Might Be Worth The Risk

So you'll probably remember me hemming and hawing last month about my feelings towards Loot Crate. To be honest, I cancelled my membership shortly after I wrote it. Then something magical happened…I got an email that mentioned the following: Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, and I really didn't need to see anything else. Quickly, I went back to the website and re-activated my membership. This month's Loot Crate theme was Fantasy, and I'm here to spoil all of the contents for you.

Team Loot Crate begins their April issue by stating:

Swords and sorcery, myths and magic, dragons and…things that aren't dragons. This month, it's all about FANTASY! Here at Loot Crate we totally understand that not all who wander are lost but we also hear that it's dangerous to go alone. Luckily, we've got you covered!

So here are the contents of April's Loot Crate:

Dungeons & Dragons T-Shirt (Wizards of the Coast/Loot Crate Labs)

Harry Potter Luggage Tag (BioWorld)

Inflatable Crown (Loot Crate Labs)

Exclusive RPG Bow Tie (Spotted & Tied)

The Princess Bride Playing Cards (Albino Dragon)

Exclusive Game of Thrones USB Flash Drive (CustomUSB)

Game Of Thrones Magnet Set (Dark Horse)

It's almost like they heard me cancel my subscription and said, "Let's just put all of her favorite things in one box." I'm obviously kidding, but man was I thrilled with the combination of things this month. I'll be sure to rock that red D&D tshirt proudly with an inflatable crown on my head while I do it. I urge you to not ignore the magazine that comes in the box. This months issue features two great essays: D&D Intelligence Check by Jenni Villarreal and Fantastic Shows & Why To Watch Them by Ash Mahtani. Both offer interesting perspectives, but I did favor the D&D one because of its clever design.

So now I find myself at a crossroads. The risk with Loot Crate is giving them money in advance without knowing if you're going to like the next theme. In this case, I was thrilled with it. However, I didn't feel the same about the last three. How do you feel about Loot Crate? Do you think it's worth the membership or do you prefer to live vicariously through these types of reviews?
