"The Matrix 4" Adds Neil Patrick Harris to the Cast

This continues to be a thing that is happening. No one is really sure whether or not we need The Matrix 4 but it's still happening. We've already got a new cast member in the form of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II with previous stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne Moss also set to return to the new installment of the series. Today we got another new casting announcement. According to Variety How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast.

At the moment we don't have any plot details for any of the people that have been cast including Harris. Production is set to begin next year so as more casting announcements come in we should expect to learn a little more about the project.

There have been rumors of a new movie in this series for years and despite the fact that only Lana Wachowski is set return to direct and write and not her sister.

There is currently no release date for the movie yet but with an early 2020 production start date, we should expect to see the movie in either later 2021 or sometime in 2022 with the latter being the most likely considering the number of special effects that goes into this series.
