AEW Releases 'Double or Nothing' PPV Promo; Loses "Hangman" Adam Page/Pac Match [TRAILER]

Let's be fair: All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has earned every right in the world to still be celebrating their new television deal with WarnerMedia to begin airing matches on TNT later this year (more on that below). That said? AEW President/CEO Tony Khan, Executive VPs/wrestlers The Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson), Cody Rhodes, and Kenny Omega, Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes, and wrestling icon/hall-of-famer Chris Jericho are going to have to cut the celebrations a little short: there's a little matter called Double or Nothing to deal with.

Set for next Sunday, May 25, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Double or Nothing will be the group's inaugural event under the AEW banner – but by no means its only one. A little more than a month later, AEW is set to invade Fyter Fest on June 29th in Daytona Beach; and two weeks after that on July 13th, Fight for the Fallen takes place in Jacksonville.

And then there's that matter of the TNT television deal… which we'll get into after you check out this promo video for AEW's Double or Nothing:

Of course, AEW's first PPV is going to be looked at under the microscope by more than just wrestling fans. After tis week's 2019 May Upfronts presentation, Rhodes and The Young Bucks should also expect to hear from TNT executives now that the cabler is tag-teaming with AEW to air prime-time weekly matches on TNT in late 2019, as well as streaming them through WarnerMedia's B/R Live and on pay-per-view.

In WarnerMedia and AEW's joint press release, the two companies made the case as to what will make the new wrestling promotion different from others – and possibly giving fans a little insight as to what they can expect on May25th – and promised "less scripted, soapy drama" with a stronger emphasis on wrestling action. AEW also promises that wrestlers will be able to "explore their characters and highlight their athletic abilities" – but what might prove the most interesting part of their plan (good or bad) is their promised use of analytics to enhance the fan's experience:

"AEW will raise the stakes for its matches and deepen fan engagement by tracking each competitor's wins and losses as the wrestlers pursue championships, analyzing their moves, assessing damage to their opponents, and providing insights into their winning streaks."

Here's a look at how AEW's Double or Nothing PPV is stacking up so far:

NOTE: Despite continuing their angle at an overseas event in Nottingham, England, this weekend, the match between Adam "Hangman" Page vs. Pac has been cancelled due to "creative differences." No replacement opponent for Page has been announced at this time.

Other notes:

● With experience in streaming PPVs for wrestling promotions such as Impact Wrestling and Ring of Honor, Fite TV has been tapped to stream Double of Nothing outside of the United States.

● B/R Live will be the exclusive digital streaming partner in the U.S. for Double or Nothing.

● Hour-long live pre-show special "The Buy-In" will stream on WarnerMedia and on AEW's social channels.

"Wrestling fans have wanted – and needed – something different, authentic and better for far too long. AEW is answering the call. AEW is about more than wrestling. It's about a movement fueled by wrestling fans who have been underserved and perhaps even disappointed by what the industry has produced in recent years. AEW is rising to the occasion with DOUBLE OR NOTHING and today taking it a step further by partnering with WarnerMedia, which is committed as we are to making wrestling fans the one and only priority. With WarnerMedia, AEW is poised globally to redefine wrestling as we know it today."

– Tony Khan, President/CEO, AEW
