'Castle Rock' Scares-Up Spacek, Levy For J.J. Abrams/Stephen King Series

The population of Hulu's Castle Rock has grown by two as the streaming service announced that Jane Levy (Suburgatory) and Sissy Spacek (Bloodline) have been signed to star opposite André Holland (Moonlight) in the upcoming psychological-horror drama series from J.J. Abrams (Alias, Star Trek) and author Stephen King.

Here is the teaser trailer for Castle Rock that accompanied the original series announcement:

Set in the shared universe of King, Castle Rock is named after the fictional town in Maine that is featured in a number of King's works including Cujo, The Dead Zone and Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. Per the producers when the ten-episode first season was announced, the series "…combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King's best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland."

Holland has been cast in the lead role of Henry, a death-row attorney with a unique and complicated past with Castle Rock.  Spacek will play Ruth Deaver, Henry's adoptive mother and retired professor whose aging insight into the darker places of Castle Rock's past might hold the key to uncovering the truth. Levy has been cast as Jackie, the death-obsessed self-appointed historian of Castle Rock and possible ally for Henry.

With her iconic role as Carrie White in director Brian De Palma's adaptation of Carrie, Spacek is definitely no stranger to the world of King. The Academy Award-winning actress currently wrapped a three-season run on Netflix's Bloodline. Levy's television work included her turn as Tessa Altman on Suburgatory from 2011-2014 and a role in 2016's Don't Breathe. She's also signed-up to co-star opposite Glenn Close in Amazon's recently announced supernatural comedy pilot, Sea Oak. Holland recently starred in Best Picture Oscar winner Moonlight; and as Matt Miller on FX's American Horror Story: Roanoke.

Castle Rock was developed for television by Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason, who also serve as executive producers of the series along with Abrams, Ben Stephenson and Liz Glotzer.
