CBS Gives New Dick Wolf FBI Drama A Straight-To-Series Order

CBS has given a 13-episode straight-to-series order to a new FBI drama from producer Dick Wolf. Called F.B.I., the series will likely run during the 2018-2019 season and will explore the inner workings of the New York branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Wolf will executive produce along with Arthur W. Forney, Peter Jankowski and Craig Turk. Turk will also serve as the showrunner and is writing the pilot episode.

FBI

It's odd to see Wolf connected to any network by NBC where he has Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med and the soon-to-air Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders. Reports say that Wolf had eyed doing an FBI series over at NBC, but CBS seems to have won him over.

Wolf has been involved in police procedural series since being a co-executive producer on Miami Vice in 1986 and creating Law & Order in 1990. He has produced on 53 different shows and films over the years. Not all have been police related. He did work on a documentary of the Doors and on the Jim Gaffigan Show comedy series.

Turk wrote an episode of Law & Order in 2003, but has mostly cut his teeth on legal dramas as both a writer and producer, spending large amounts of time on Boston Legal, Private Practice, and most recently The Good Wife.
