Ridley And Tony Scott Producing Le Mans Race Miniseries
Josh Hylton writes for Bleeding Cool
What do you think of when you hear the phrase "period piece"? Clearly you think of exciting, fast moving car chases, right? If not, you're about to.
Brothers Ridley and Tony Scott are about to redefine the way we look at period dramas with an upcoming BBC 4-part miniseries, entitled The Drivers, that will be based on the world's oldest sports car race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Deadline reports that, while the race has been in existence since 1923, the series will put its focus somewhere in the 1950s and 1960s.
Based on the book Shelby: The Man, The Cars, The Legend by Wallace A. Wyss, the series will be a true story of rivals from all over the world who apparently "risked everything" to win the race. My knowledge of this subject is obviously limited, but it appears to be somewhat dangerous, so even if the drama proves unmoving, we could still see some riveting races. Here's hoping.
