Brittany's 2020 Gaming Resolutions: Take More Chances
Now that 2020 is finally here, I'm all about making some important changes in my gaming life. I'm going to make this year special in several ways, cut out some old habits, and try plenty of new things. That brings me here: to my 2020 New Year's gaming resolutions. I've been thinking about it, and there are a few things I'd like to address now that it's a new year. Here are some of my 2020 New Year's gaming resolutions.
Take More Chances
I'll play just about any game out there, but I admittedly have my preferences. Usually, I won't bother with a new game unless it's something I've found online or heard about myself, thereby "vetting" my curiosity. As such, I won't make random purchases on Steam or other online storefronts like Itch.io to try new things. But that's how I've ended up finding some of the games that I've enjoyed the most, like Vlambeer's Ridiculous Fishing.
I'm a fan of some fishing games, but I never would have known exactly how fun this particular mobile game would be if I didn't pay the money for it and indulge in it while waiting on my family to leave a luncheon we attended together. I nearly finished it in one lengthy session. And to think, I probably wouldn't have given it a second look before. I would have looked at the name and totally skimmed over it. But that one fateful day, I decided to jump right in and never look back. As a result, I found one of the coolest mobile games of my collection.
That's why this year I'm determined to take more blind chances. I'll try out games I know nothing about, without pruning down my "must try" list by only seeking out the games I know are up my alley. I think it should be easy to do, as long as I keep mind open. And as long as there are awesome titles coming down the pipeline – which we all know there will be.
What games did you take a chance on and end up loving?
