Capcom Explain the Later Release Date for Monster Hunter World on PC

Capcom has talked about the upcoming Monster Hunter World release on the PC explaining exactly why it is seeing such a significant delay on the platform.

Last week, we found out that Monster Hunter World was going to be coming to PC, something long asked for since the game was announced. Good news all around then? Well, there was one wrinkle that made it  just a little tough to swallow. It was announced that the port wouldn't be coming until Autumn, obviously pretty far away from console release coming later this month.

Capcom has now come out to defend the long gap between versions. Speaking to GamesRadar (via PC Gamer), producer Ryozo Tsujimoto explained the reasoning, and it's about what you'd probably expect. Tsujimoto said:

For the main Monster Hunter game, this is our first PC title and it's something we want to make sure we get right. So rather than have it taking up resources during the console development and it not being able to have our full attention on it. We want to get console out the door and then we're going to take some extra time and try and get the PC version as good as possible.

There's extra work you need for PC as well. On console you use first party matchmaking, you just kind of plug into it, whether it's PSN or Xbox Live, but on PC we're going to have to work more to get our own matchmaking working. So, hopefully, PC users won't mind waiting a little bit longer for us to bring you a really great optimised PC experience.

This all, of course, makes sense. The road of AAA PC ports is one littered with bodies of failed and disappointing attempts. For the first Monster Hunter game on PC, I'm sure the company want to knock it out the park. The wait is definitely long though, but hopefully, it will be worth it.
