THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games announced today that Darksiders III is currently in development and is scheduled to release sometime in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

The game is set to be an open-world action-adventure which includes exploration, environmental puzzles, and will continue with the usual hack and slash combat though we do have a new protagonist, Fury.

As for our new protagonist, you can get a look at her below.

She looks decently epic and I do enjoy the pink hair, but, you do have to wonder what exactly makes Strife and Fury different from War and Death. Sure, I love playing Death and War and Fury will definitely be fun to play, but why can't I enjoy hack-and-slash combat while also oozing contagion everywhere I go? Where's the variety in your horsemen of the apocalypse, Darksiders series?

The game will be set around the same time as the events of Darksiders II and will follow Fury's quest to destroy unique physical versions of of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Gunfire Games' development team includes several former employees of Vigil Games who worked on Darksiders and Darksiders II, including the Game Director, Executive Producer, Technical Director, and Lead Environment Artist, so this will definitely look and feel like a proper Darksiders game.

Lars Wingefors, Co-Founder and Group CEO at THQ Nordic AB said, "After countless rumors, a major catalogue acquisition, and even a corporate re-brand, the team at THQ Nordic is thrilled to finally confirm plans for Darksiders III."

You can watch the game's reveal trailer below.
