Elder Scrolls Legends Update Brings in the Great Houses of Morrowind
In an attempt to continue cashing in on Morrowind nostalgia, Bethesda is bringing the Great Houses of Vvardenfell into Elder Scrolls Legends, which includes the traditional Three Great Houses of Hlaalu, Redoran, and Telvanni, as well as House Dagoth, and even the Tribunal Temple, which you might notice is not one of the Great Houses.
The official description for the update from Bethesda reads:
The Elder Scrolls: Legends is going to Vvardenfell with Houses of Morrowind, releasing March 29 on PC, mobile and tablet devices. The set introduces 149 new cards to the game, featuring creatures, characters and many other familiar sights from both The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls: Online.
You'll find the Great Houses and their machinations.
You'll find strange creatures like netches and hear the chilling cry of descending cliff racers.
You'll find the living gods themselves.
And of course, you'll find their nemesis – the mighty Dagoth Ur.
While the Temple isn't a Great House, I will forgive them this lore misstep. After all, the Tribunal Temple is one of the major factions within Morrowind, and are diametrically opposed to House Dagoth and its founder Dagoth Ur. While Hlaalu, Redoran, and Telvanni aren't exactly fond of Dagoth Ur and his ilk, they aren't quite up to par as his nemeses.
Alongside the batch of new cards, we're also getting some interesting meta changes. For one, we can use three attributes in a deck now, and the max deck size is being increased to 100 instead of 70.
Normally a Legends deck can only contain up to two attributes or "colors" however the Houses of Morrowind will change that. The new batch of cards contains a few powerful three-attribute cards, meaning they totally break that rule as if it didn't exist. Naturally, Dagoth Ur is one of those three-attribute cards. Once you put Dagoth Ur into your deck, you can now use cards from all three of his attributes in that deck.
Which leads to some interesting combinations, which Bethesda point out:
Ever wanted to equip Tazkad with a Sentinel Battlemace? How about using Laaneth to fetch a timely Allena Benoch? In a Dagoth deck, you can. In exchange, you must include at least 75 cards in your deck. You may not play with cards of any other attributes.
"But I thought the maximum deck size was 70?" Well, this is Morrowind – where new things are always possible! With the release of Houses of Morrowind, the maximum deck size is being raised to 100 for not just three-attribute one, but all decks.
Houses of Morrowind includes cards for five of the ten possible three-attribute sets, each representing one of the major Houses, or factions, in Vvardenfell.
As part of the reveal, Bethesda showcased some of the new cards coming in the expansion. You can check those out in the gallery below.
