Sony Shows off a Very Violent Spider-Man in E3 Gameplay Footage

During the latter portion of Sony's E3 2018 stream, they showed a lot of gameplay for Sony and Insomniac's new Spider-Man game. The footage looks gorgeous, and the gameplay looks like an absolute dream. There was only one problem for those keeping a close eye on the footage.

Spider-Man appears to kill a few dudes in it.

A large portion of the stream shows the eponymous Web-Head fighting a number of thugs on a roof while the hero tries to defuse bombs planted on the roofs.

The webbing is used a lot in the combat, and dudes are being slung around with reckless abandon. Many of them are thrown far off the roof to fall to their presumed deaths. They weren't superhuman, they had no jetpacks, and Spidey gave the no web parachutes.

Those men are straight-up dead. What the hell, Spider-Man? What are you, Batfleck in Batman v. Superman?

This happens more than once, and it seems that Peter Parker racks up quite the body count in his mission to save the day. This is all assuming these poor bastards don't land on anyone or cause a car crash in their terminal velocity decent.

Beyond that, the game looks awesome. The web-swinging and general movement look like that of the Spider-Man 2 and Ultimate Spider-Man games of many years ago. The combat looks elaborate and not just another copy of the Batman: Arkham model that many action games have adopted.

Mr. Negative is supposed to be a major villain in this game, which is cool. He is one of the best things to come from Dan Slott's Amazing Spider-Man material. It also takes place eight years into Spidey's crime-fighting career, so it won't be an origin or novice Peter Parker game.

This gameplay was shown during the Sony E3 livestream. It would be difficult for you to navigate the stream to find the footage, so here is a reupload for your viewing pleasure. For those interested, the game is slated for a September 7th, 2018 release date.
