Square Enix Unveils New Information on Final Fantasy XIV's Next Patch
Final Fantasy XIV's Patch 4.56 will release on March 26, 2019, and a week ahead of the launch, Square Enix unveiled some details on what fans can expect from the final Stormblood patch. Patch 4.56 will set up this summer's Shadowbringers expansion with a final set of Main Scenario quests.
4.56 picks up where Patch 4.5 left off, that is, in the middle of a fight between the Garlean Empire and the Eorzean Alliance over the fate of Ala Mhigo. After the previous patch, the only remaining Scions of the Seventh Dawn are Tataru and the Warrior of Light. In the midst of the conflict between the Garleans and Eorzeans, the Warrior of Light is again beckoned by the mysterious voice that's claimed the minds of the other Scions.
Now, if you remember your Post-Heavensward patches and the Warriors of Darkness, the obvious set up for Stormblood to transition into Shadowbringers involves bringing the Warrior of Light and the Scions to the First World, to fight the tyranny of Light that consumed it. Which could be exactly what the mysterious voice plaguing the Scions for the last few patches could be. Granted, that's merely speculation on my part. Sometime between next Tuesday and Shadowbringers' launch in July, we'll find out if I'm right about it.
New MSQ is far from the only thing coming with FFXIV's newest patch, as the three Far Eastern Beast Tribes will meet up in the latest Beast Tribe quests. Yes, the Ananta, Kojin, and Namazu are set to meet up, though things might go a bit awry.
Also coming with Patch 4.56 is the end of the Hildibrand questline, which will bring its usual shenanigans. We'll see how the Inspector handles breaking Shigure out of jail, since the Sekiseigumi officer was arrested for aiding and abetting the Wolf Burglar last time around.
And in case you're wondering, the new selection of screenshots does include a very spooky shot of Ascian Zenos, so we might see some interesting developments on that front amidst everything else.
