There Wasn't Ever A PC Version Red Dead Redemption Considered Says Dev
Red Dead Redemption remains some people's favourite game of last generation. The community has been asking for a PC version of the game for years now to really take the training wheels off the game, with the question still brought up to this day.
Well, in a livestream on his personal channel (via VG247), ex-Rockstar Multiplayer Designer Kris Roberts says it was never on the cards. He is quoted as saying that no one at the developer ever really considered the port seriously.
I don't think there was ever an intention to have a PC version of Red Dead Redemption. I was actually super shocked that they did a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5.
To the best of my recollection, we never even seriously talked about optimizing it for PC.
With the success of Grand Theft Auto V on the PC though, I can't imagine if there was ever a Red Dead Redemption 2, the developer would skip the platform a second time around.
