World of Tanks: Mercenaries Gets a New Real-Time Strategy Mode
World of Tanks: Mercenaries is getting a new game mode that brings a new perspective mode, as well as a bit of real-time strategy gameplay. Alongside the new Commander Mode, Mercenaries will also get a slew of new tanks, this time with designs by comic book artists at the Parisian collective ARTtitude headed by Brett Parson. Yes, the new Mercenaries tanks were designed in part by the man who made Tank Girl. The game is also getting a new French Hero tank, but that's far less awesome news.
As for the RTS mode, Commander Mode is the latest evolution of World of Tanks' classic tank combat and is exclusive to the console version of the game. Players get control of a nine tank fleet with a birds-eye view of the battlefield as the fleet commander. Players can give direct orders to individual tanks in order to flank and outwit enemies, or they can send groups into battle with orders to multiple tanks.
And if they want to blend the more traditional World of Tanks experience with Commander Mode, players can take on the role of tanker and work with five other players to take out the enemy commander.
Wargaming West worked on Commander Mode directly with community input to refine the experience and make it as exciting as possible. Commander Mode will be available from November 30th to December 9th.
World of Tanks has recently welcomed a new trio of Mercenaries to the game with The Outcasts, so naturally they're getting new tanks in the Outcasts Mega collection. The three new tanks are on sale until December 11th both in the collection as well as individually. Details on those tanks are below:
- Banana Buster – a deliberate brawler with awesome armor. It's captained by 40 Watt Club, a French Resistance fighter who delights in hunting down members of German high command!
- Beach Party – the resilient hybrid of three nations' engineering prowess, it's fronted with a magnificently powerful weapon. Battalion 23, an American soldier who went mad surviving and fighting his way through the forests of Japan after World War II, is at its helm.
- T.A.N.K. – this absolute unit has excellent speed, agility, and close-range combat prowess. The Buck is its master, a cruel and vindictive war criminal who operates a nefarious network of Mercenaries who sweep Europe like a plague of locusts.
Finally, France will get a new Hero tank fighting on its frontlines with the Audace AMX Canon d'assaut 105 hits the game on November 27th. This combat vehicle's got enough speed to position itself for combat and then quickly escape if needed. The Audace AMX Canon d'assaut 105 also features a streamlined profile, ferocious firepower, and swift aim time.
