Drew Goddard Gives an Update on the X-Force Movie
We don't entirely know what the fate of movies like X-Force are now that it looks like the Fox-Disney deal is going to happen. There's a good chance Disney wouldn't cancel this movie, because Deadpool 2 did very well at the box office — and there's no reason to fix something that isn't broken. While at a press event for the upcoming Bad Times at the El Royale, Cinema Blend asked director Drew Goddard when he was planning to get started on the movie.
It's a good question. I've learned I'm very much a one-movie-at-a-time kind of guy, and they all know. It's the same studio, which is nice, so they can say, 'Okay, get [Bad Times At The El Royale] done,' and then once I get this movie done and get this into theaters we'll turn our attention that way.
The last we heard was that Goddard didn't have a script yet, and X-Force doesn't have a release date scheduled. There isn't a huge rush since they likely want to get this done right, even more so after the buildup in Deadpool 2. Deadpool 2 has made over $700 million at the worldwide box office so far and received positive reviews overall.
Summary: Seven strangers, each with a secret to bury, meet at Lake Tahoe's El Royale, a rundown hotel with a dark past. Over the course of one fateful night, everyone will have a last shot at redemption… before everything goes to hell.
Bad Times at the El Royale, directed by Drew Goddard, stars Jeff Bridges, Cynthia Erivo, Dakota Johnson, Jon Hamm, Cailee Spaeny, Lewis Pullman, Nick Offerman, and Chris Hemsworth. It will be released on October 5th.
