John Constantine And Oliver Queen Are Old Friends

Last night's Arrow had a few interesting moments that would be considered spoilers if you haven't seen the episode… so if you don't want to know… exit, stage left even.

The worst kept secret of course was the return of Sara Lance (Caity Lotz) as we all knew she was going to be coming back for DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Now they could have brought her back through time-travel since that is what the new show is all about… but then we'd just have two Black Canaries. So they went to the hot tub life machine and brought her back with a serious mad on that we know will eventually lead to her being called the White Canary.

And perhaps the writers did the next thing to prevent the Lazarus Pit from becoming a oft-use plot device, they had Nyssa (Katrina Law) destroy it. But then again, in the comics there are multiple pits so there is already a way around this.

Now the trailer below for next week looks like we not only get to see how Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) deals with his twice-dead daughter's return, but the cat gets out of the bag that he's some how connected to Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough). But the real interesting thing comes not in the trailer for the next episode, but in the synopsis for the one after.

When things take a turn for the worse with Sara (guest star Caity Lotz), Oliver (Stephen Amell) calls in a favor from an old friend who deals in the mystical, John Constantine (guest star Matt Ryan). John Badham directed the episode written by Brian Ford Sullivan & Oscar Balderrama.

So Constantine is going to help Sara. We knew that. But the line about him being an old friend of Oliver Queen's is new. I can't see how he would know John from before Lian Yu and since the flashbacks are supposed to be the first time Oliver learns of the mystical, perhaps we will get more of Constantine later this season in the flashbacks.

Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 PM on the CW.
