Nintendo Boss On E3: Unlike The Others, Most Of The Visitors To Our Booth Were Smiling
Nintendo didn't have a great time at E3. The developer got the snot kicked out of them by their fan base for announcing spin-offs like Metroid Prime: Federation Force without a new main game in the series. Add on top of that, Zelda: Wii U was absent and no other major announcements, it just made a fanbase who are desperate for games a little angry.
Nintendo Boss, Satoru Iwata has come out in defence of the company's showing at the expo though, claiming they had the booth that pleased the most people. Speaking at The Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, Iwata said:
One thing I should say about Nintendo's E3 booth is that, unlike the other booths in general, most of the visitors to our booth were smiling and actually picking up the controllers and playing with our games. So, this was one big difference because a number of the visitors to other booths appeared to have spent a lot of time just watching game videos.
The odd thing about this quote is that Iwata wasn't actually at the show. As someone who was there, I can say that Nintendo's booth seemed more gleeful for sure, but as for smiles, I can't say I was paying too much attention. A lot of booths had a great show though, so this does feel a overly dismissive for a man who wasn't there.
