Robert Orci Steps Away From Power Rangers For Star Trek

star-trekGood news for Star Trek fans means bad news for Mighty Morphin Power Ranger fans… or is that the other way around? Deadline is reporting that Robert Orci has had to step away from executive producing the reboot of the Power Rangers franchise because of shooting conflicts with Star Trek 3.

This doesn't change Lionsgate and Haim Saban's plans to release the film on July 22, 2016. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, who penned the screenplays for X-Men: First Class and Thor, will continue to write the script.

During an interview on the Today Show, Zachary Quinto let slip this quote: "I think it's on the horizon. Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling we'll be back in production sometime in the next six months."

So everything is pointing to filming starting early next year if not sooner.
