Love Spider-Verse? Pick up This Neat Spider-Ham Toy!
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is not only loved by critics and audiences, but it is winning awards that, up until now, the superhero genre has not been able to touch. Undoubtedly, part of that success has to be because Peter Porker the Spider-Ham is in the film. Voiced by John Mulaney, he arguably steals the whole movie. I know coming out of the film I wanted to get my hands on whatever Spider-Ham Spider-Verse merch I could, and thankfully there is no shortage of it. Hasbro was kind enough to send over their Spin Vision Spider-Ham figure for us to check out, so let's take a look.
How cool is the packaging that Hasbro is using for Spider-Verse products? Vibrant and eye-catching, the key art used is fantastic. I am a little surprised that this is not in a window box like previous MCU plastic figures, like Baby Groot and such. MOC collectors hate these types of boxes, as they are hard to keep in good condition. Just be aware of that if you want to keep Porker in the box.
I will say that I expected this to be…better. This features no articulation in the body, except pushing in his nose. The figure is an expression change figure when you push down on the left ear, and the eyes get beadier and angrier looking. The halfway narrowed eyes are best, as they perfectly sum up Spider-Ham as a character. I just wish this thing didn't feel like a hunk of plastic. The sculpt is great, and on display it will look cool. But as far as playability goes, I can see kids changing the expression a few times and getting bored with it.
What I will say is that at a price point of $14.99, this makes for a good display piece. As a toy for kids, not so much. But add it to your Spider-Verse collections and pop it on your shelf. If nothing else so that they make even more Spider-Ham stuff. You can order one here, when they are back in stock, that is.
