Fortnite's Latest Patch Introduces Lunar New Year Items and 4K Support
Fortnite has gone live with patch v.2.5.0, which brings new Lunar New Year legendary skins and weapons, a new grenade, and 4K support for players on the Xbox One X.
The full list of patch notes were posted today and as well as a bunch of bug fixes, there's a new impulse grenade limited to supply drops and treasure chests, and a slew of new Dragon weapons to mark the Lunar New Year.
Lunar New Year heroes with four new kits have also been added, in the form of Berserker, Thunderstrike, Riot Control, and Flash:
- Berserker – A fearless Soldier who rushes into combat at close range with War Cry and Shockwave.
- Thunderstrike – A Ninja who focuses on stunning nearby foes, and exploiting that state to deal increased damage.
- Riot Control – Constructor focused on controlling the battlefield with DECOY, and wiping out packs of enemies with Plasma Pulse.
- Flash – An elusive Outlander who uses Phase Shift to stun and escape from groups of enemies.
Players can now hunt for treasure in "Thematic Shrines", which can be found across the map, and the Spring It On! event is live. The season event comes including rewards like the legendary soldier Love Trooper Jonesy, a choice of three legendary Dragon ranged weapons, a new legendary melee defender, Firecracker tickets, V-Bucks, and seasonal Spring It On! gold.
On the PlayStation 4 side of things, Epic Games has been working with Sony to "resolve the issue that occurred for some Fortnite players in which patches took longer to download than they should."
Meanwhile, on the Xbox One X, 4K support has now been added so you can jump off a bus and go head-to-head in a murder melee in 4K.
Fortnite added a Batte Royale feature last year which has led the game to beat PlayerUnknown's Battleround's concurrent PC player record by around 200,000 players. The takeover hit when Fortnite reached 3.4 million concurrent players about two weeks ago. And yes, the SMG has left us.
